however, it’s also has a rule not found in the american parks – no outside food, which has prompted a lawsuit from one park guest.

the rule of no food from outside of the theme park was first enacted back in november 2017. this was when the company banned “food, alcoholic beverages, and non-alcoholic beverages with volume larger than 600 ml.”

in january, a student and her friends were stopped by shanghai disney staff from entering the resort carrying snacks, which the staff said is against resort regulations, the shanghai observer reported on saturday.

the students’ request for a refund was rejected and they dumped the food outside

the students filed a lawsuit against the resort for the regulation, which they believed was illegal, asking 46.3 yuan ($6.6) for the food and to abolish the ban.

the case was adopted by a court in shanghai pudong on april 23 and awaits a final result.

the student told the newspaper disney only bans food at its asia branches and although the rule was published on its websites, she did not receive relevant tips while purchasing the ticket and before entering the park.

although shanghai disney claims the food ban is due to hygiene reasons, that did not stop chinese net users from speculating that disney is applying double standards in asia and forcing tourists to buy their food.

both tokyo and hong kong disneyland forbid guests from bringing in food from outside. although, if you’re from the states, you probably know that all the u.s. disney parks and disneyland paris allow guests to have outside food in the parks.

some users also complained about the high food prices inside shanghai disney. for example, a 500 milliliter pepsi costs 20 yuan, seven times the normal price.

guests are allowed to bring food items – such as snacks or foods that do not require heating – into disney theme parks,” walt disney world said on its official website.

disney has infringed on tourists’ right of choice. as a us company, it is improper to apply a double standard on asian countries,” liu junhai, a business law professor at the renmin university of china in beijing told the global times on sunday.

twitter user @pjmdoll shared a picture of

various twitter users replied with screenshots and images of calculators

to prove that the answer was either 16 or one

many brought up the order of operations like pemdas or bodmas

8/2(2 2)=? over 80% of adults fail to solve this easy math test!

what is the difference between bodmas and pedmas?

they are the same thing. both refer to the mnemonic for the order of operations in mathematics.

the acronym is different because some countries (such as the us) refer to brackets are parentheses, and orders as exponents.

bodmas is brackets, orders, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction

pedmas is parantheses, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction

others like @sowhat9000 provided explanations about

 specific parts of the equation

@sowhat9000 tweeted,

but you still have parenthesis. while pemdas works from left to right your not considering one of the most important things in math.

you can’t not do anything if you don’t get rid of parenthesis first”

the tweet garnered over 1,100 likes and 44 retweets in three days.

it’s either 1 or 16 depending on which mathematician you listen to,

because order of operations isn’t a hard and fast rule,

and nothing is true”

on july 31st,

the mirror cited an oxford university professor who claimed that

without better brackets, there can be ambiguity. there are conventions about the order of operations to try to resolve this, sometimes called bodmas in uk schools. if it still seems unclear, it’s best to include brackets to remove any possible ambiguity.

mathematicians do not generally have problems communicating with each other about things like this, but for whatever reason people seem to enjoy posing these kinds of problems on social media!
